Artists for Peace and Justice in Canada

Artists for Peace and Justice (APJ) is a non-profit organization founded by Oscar-winning Canadian filmmaker Paul Haggis and friends in 2009 that encourages peace and social justice and addresses issues of poverty around the world. APJ’s immediate goal is to serve children and their families in the poorest communities in Haiti by supporting programs focused on education, health and dignity through the Academy for Peace and Justice, the first free secondary school in Port-au-Prince.

The Academy for Peace and Justice welcomed its first class of 400 7th Grade students in October 2010! Eventually, this groundbreaking school will educate, feed and care for approximately 3,000 students each year in grades 7–13.

Artists for Peace and Justice is one of few charities that boasts such an extensive roster of celebrity advisory board members including Ben Stiller, Olivia Wilde, James Franco, Josh Brolin, AnnaLynne McCord, Gerard Butler, Penelope Cruz, Susan Sarandon, and Russell Crowe.

APJ is proud to follow a 100% policy: 100% of every donation by the general public goes directly to our programs in Haiti. APJ's operational budget is generously covered thanks to separate donations so that every dollar you give helps people in need.
